I am not having a problem finding a mattress that is comfortable. That would make my issue much more manageable. I am trying to buy a mattress here in the north at a place that has a location in the south that can then deliver said mattress to said southern location.
This could not be more difficult and frustrating. I see why the south succeeded from the union. Just kidding.
One place had a location in both towns and was ready and willing to cash me out when they called the southern location to find that the place had gone out of business. Yeah… that is a great start to a possible purchase.The face of the salesman realizing he just lost the sale was almost equal to my face when I realized I would have to start over at another store.
I finally found a place, and a mattress that fit my budget and more importantly my desired location. It took me two full days of trying, phoning and driving all over town. What a pain in the ass.
I got rid of my college mattress because it was nearly 20 years old and its springs were begging me to upgrade. (I’m not saying friends didn’t feel the same way whenever they came over either.)
I hate buying things with people trying to “sell” me on something. I don’t need to be sold. I have been in sales before, and I knew how to read people. It was key to understanding your customer. Mattress salesmen apparently don’t know how to read people. I am a 22 year old law student who is short on cash—I’m not looking for a $2200 bed with “enhanced performance.” The bed isn’t what’s going to make anyone think I have “enhanced performance.” How does a mattress even have “enhanced performance?” Does that mean I’m going to sleep better? Lay down better? Procrastinate getting out of bed more?
All in all… a new bed, a new place to live and a new town are coming into view very quickly. I am only a week away from my move in day. A buddy from up here is going to be traveling with me. Let’s call him “Steve” for this post. Steve is a great guy who was one of my best friends in high school. I am so lucky he has the time to take off of work and help move me in. I’m jacked.
This prince is off to get an oil change for the big trip!
